King & King & Family is the logical continuation of King & King. After their royal marriage, time for departure for the honeymoon has rang for kings Lee and Bertie. Their destination will be the jungle, a particularly deserted place where only wild animals live. Although king Bertie is a little bit worried by this precarious trip, king Lee reassures him … The stay takes place in the best of the worlds and King & King discover with delight and curiosity this unexplored place with so friendly animals. The touching and suggestive scenes between animals and their youngs will arouse for King & King a desire to have a child. Will their wish come true ?

The duet Linda de Haan and Stern Nijland treats frankly both the theme of homosexuality between two men and the theme of adoption. This reversal of the conventional plan of the couple remains « still » taboo in today’s society. Is it justified to decry an album about a love story between two men when we teach our children to accept all kind of differences (skin color, disability ...). Isn’t it an ironic reasoning ?

This is an album with many colored illustrations, which mixes a set of division-collage with materials and detailed graphics. The characters are depicted in their human aspect, which shows the reality as it is.

King & King and King & King & Family are both simple stories about love between two beings who want to build a family. A completely common yearning for all the couples on earth !
